2 Days / 1 Nights Departing Anchorage
From USD$1,986 per person

Covering four million acres, the spectacular scenery on Lake Clark National Park stretches from the shores of Cook Inlet, across the Chigmit Mountains, to the tundra covered hills of the western interior. The Chigmits, where the Alaska and Aleutian Ranges meet, feature an impressive, jagged array of mountains and glaciers which include two active volcanoes, Mount Redoubt and Mount Iliamna. In the shadow of these volcanos sits the Great Alaska Bear Camp, one of Alaska’s most ideally positioned bear viewing locations.

Departure date

Day 1 Anchorage to Great Alaska Bear Camp (Lake Clark) Depart Anchorage by shuttle van for a scenic 3 hour drive to River Side Main Lodge on Kenai Island. After orientation and lunch (included) at the lodge take an exciting bush plane flight to the camp. Fly by the peaks and glaciers of two of Alaska’s most famous volcanoes (Mount Redoubt and Mount Illiamna) and land on the beach directly in front of Alaska Bear Camp. The camp is perfectly situated between the ocean shore and the stream where the salmon spawn. Spend the rest of the day out in the field viewing bears. Accommodation at the camp is in custom made “weather-port” cabin/tents for 2 on raised platforms with wooden floors, solid doors, propane heaters and twin beds and porta potties (showers are also available at the camp).
