Valdez

Valdez, the northernmost port in North America that is ice-free year round is located 300 miles from Anchorage through some of Alaska’s most scenic driving routes. Valdez is also accessible by sea on the Alaska Marine Highway ferries crossing Prince Williams Sound from Whittier.
This is one of the most important ports in Alaska being the end point for oil carried from the Trans-America pipeline from Prudhoe Bay in the Acrtic Ocean. Aside from its commercial side, Valdez offers travelers exceptional outdoor activities and scenery. Abundance of marine wildlife in Prince William Sound surrounded by snow-covered peaks, tidal glacier and the Chugach National Forest all inspire you to explore this beautiful portside town.
Valdez is no doubt on every anglers destination list with great varieties of fish up for challenge majority of the year. From five species of salmon running at various times in summer through to autumn, or try pulling in a few hundred pounds of halibut from the deep sea, you can easily spend a few days here.
